Yarn: Beautiful, Sad, Peaceful

This afternoon my daughter made me stop what I was doing to watch this video with her and I’m so glad I did. It is a beautiful stop-motion music video for ‘James’ by animator Ainslie Henderson made entirely of yellow yarn.

The creativity is brilliant and the message is depicted in such a beautiful and moving manner that I couldn’t help but be moved.

My daughter and I had differing ideas regarding who was represented in the film. What do you think?

  1. the video was beautiful! i’m glad i watched it too ^^ it matched the mood and feeling of the music perfectly too – i saw it as talking about the inevitability of death and ‘moving on’ as the song is called.

  2. Interesting clip, I thought it was about the death of a child. I especially liked the unravelling of the yarn – to me that implies renewal. Probably because my thrifty mother often unpicked woollen garments, washed the wool and then re-used it.
